Haven Season 1

It’s been a while since I’ve updated the site (sorry), but I am alive and well and hope to get back to my favorite topic on a regular basis again.  What promoted me to write today was my shipment from Amazon of the just released Season 1 DVD set of one of my favorite SyFy channel offerings HAVEN (based on the Stephen King novel “The Colorado Kid”).  An important part to what makes the show work so well is the talented charismatic (not to mention – gorgeous) cast led by Emily Rose with co-stars Lucas Bryant and Eric Balfour.   Add to that the beautiful Nova Scotia landscape subbing for Maine and the atmosphere is built in.

Mysteries abound as some sort of ancient curse known as “the troubles” is awakened by the arrival of FBI Agent Audrey Parker who has some sort of unknown connection to the town of Haven, Maine.  A secret that slowly unfolds through the 13 episodes and culminates in the mind-blowing season finale.

The DVD set is loaded with awesome bonus features that includes: Twelve Audio Commentaries with Cast & Crew, Three Exclusive “Making of” Featurettes, Six behind-the-scenes video blogs, Interviews with Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant and Eric Balfour, and a Season Two Writers’ Room “Sneak Peak”.

With Season 2 scheduled to start running in July, it’s a great time to catch up on the 13 episodes if you haven’t seen them, or do like me and re-watch them to get all set up for the continuation of that crazy mind-f#ck that ended the first season.

I can’t recommend it enough!  (Eric – I’ll be watching!)

I recently got a hold of two hardcover Stephen King books in their dust jackets that are in pretty good condition. One is Carrie and the other is Cujo, and the only dates on the copyright pages are 1974 and 1981, respectively. I think they are first editions but am not sure. How do I know? What are they worth? Thanks for the help!
